This project included construction of a new gym, locker rooms, cafeteria, 3-story classroom wing along with remodeling all remaining portions of the school building as the owner gained occupancy of the new spaces. Architectural renovations to this building included removal and relocation of several interior walls, installation of a new elevator, ADA code-required modifications, asbestos abatement, complete flooring and ceiling replacements, roofing and building repairs, window replacement and replacement of all fixtures and furnishings. This project included a complete overhaul of all major mechanical and electrical systems. The new mechanical and electrical systems are operated by an energy management system including high efficiency motors, energy recovery units and high efficiency light fixtures. The building was occupied throughout the construction process and Beckering Construction maintained proper egress, safety barricades and noise controls to allow education to continue without major distractions. Tough economic times pushed (5) subcontractors into bankruptcy on this project, but all work was completed on time and the budget was maintained. Beckering Construction maintained an excellent relationship with the owner throughout the construction process and this trust factor helped us to navigate through some intense remodel areas in the final phases of the project without compromising the schedule.
