This project included 37,115 square feet of renovations and 23,633 square feet of additions to (2) buildings simultaneously on the Battle Creek Air National Guard Base. Architectural renovations to these buildings included removal and relocation of several interior walls, complete flooring and ceiling replacements, roofing and building envelope repairs, window replacement and replacement of all fixtures and furnishings. This project included a complete overhaul of all major mechanical and electrical systems. The new mechanical and electrical systems are operated by an energy management system including occupancy sensors, high efficiency motors, energy recovery units and high efficiency light fixtures. Beckering Construction prepared and implemented the following portions of the LEED plan: Construction activity pollution prevention, measurement and verification, building re-use, construction waste management, recycled content, regional materials, certified wood, construction IAQ management plan (during construction, construction IAQ management plan (before occupancy), low emitting materials (adhesives, sealants, paint, carpet systems) and maintained the documentation notebook on a daily basis. This was a major project on an active military compound within a high security facility. Beckering Construction finished the successful project while maintaining security features, a tight budget, and a strict deadline.
